Zuari Cements workers prepare for strike
14 June 2004

Demanding that the management of Zuari Cements Ltd re-induct six workers who were expelled for their alleged attack on management, over 350 permanent workers of the Cement factory are getting ready to go on strike from June 14. The trouble started when the factory management issued notices to the workers offering Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) unilaterally in November last year. When the workers started an agitation to express their resentment over the management¹s decision, the latter expelled six workers and booked cases on 11 others on the pretext of their alleged attack.
