Iran desires to import cement
07 April 2004

The Government of Iran has reportedly expressed desire to import cement from Pakistan. According to news sources, Iranian civil companies forwarded an application to Pakistan in which they wished to import 100,000t cement from Pakistan. Iranian companies also gave suggestion to Pakistan that it can export cement to Iran via Balochistan. On the other hand, sources said, cement factories in Pakistan are facing acute difficulties to fulfil export orders as the demand for cement has already increased. Pakistan has already exported 40,000t cement to Dubai, which earlier received offer from Pakistan government for import of 200,000 ton from Pakistan. However Pakistan apparently could not achieve set target due to the increasing uplift projects in country and export of cement to Afghanistan.
