Cement firms to build port facility

Two cement companies are joining forces to construct a new facility at the Port of Houston to supply more than 1.5Mta of cement a year to the local construction market. Kansas-based Ash Grove Cement Co and Alamo Cement Co of San Antonio will add 1.5Mt of cement capacity to markets in Houston and the surrounding areas.  With a 100,000-ton storage capacity, the new terminal will have an annual throughput capacity of some 1.5Mt of cement each year.  Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2006.
