Egyptian Misr Cement Qena exports at US$12m H2 2003

Egyptian cement producer Misr Cement Qena exported over 600,000t of cement and clinker for US$12m in the second half of 2003, the company’s chairman Mohamed Mahmoud Ali Hassan said.

The company exported its products to a number of countries including Spain, Italy, Sudan, Tanzania, Yemen, the Gulf countries and West African countries. Misr Cement Qena local sales of cement and clinker stood at 900,000t worth E£155m in the second half of 2003. The company’s cement supplies have covered the needs of the New Valley and the Red Sea governorates. Misr Cement Qena posted a net profit of E£30.5m US$4.9m for 2003, down from E£56.83m in 2002.
