Austria`s Porr buys concrete plant
12 January 2004

Austrian construction company Porr AG bought a Euro3.0m concrete production plant in Croatia from Austrian concrete producer Lafarge Perlmooser AG, it was reported on January 10, 2004.  The plant is located near Croatia's capital Zagreb and has an annual output of 30,000m3 of concrete.  The plant's purchase is the first step of Porr's plans to enter Croatia's market. Porr's management sees great potential in Croatia and it has already fulfilled some construction orders in the country. The company plans to establish a unit shortly, in view of the intended expansion on the Croatian market.  On the other hand, Lafarge appears to be pulling out completely of Croatia. At present, the company owns a cement plant in Slovenia. The company plans to establish an import depot for its cement production in Zagreb's outskirts.  Porr operates in the fields of building construction, underground construction, power-plant building, road building and tunnel building. The company is represented also in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Published under Cement News
