New order for Humboldt Wedag, Inc

Humboldt Wedag Inc, Norcross, GA, subsidiary of KHD Humboldt Wedag AG, Cologne, Germany announced that it has been awarded a turnkey contract to increase the grinding capacity at Lafarge’s recently expanded cement manufacturing plant in Calera, Alabama.

Humboldt Wedag was previously awarded the contract to design and supply the new pyro-processing line which began operation in March 2002. The main equipment for Lafarge’s new Finish Mill No. 3 turnkey contract will include a Humboldt Wedag 5.0 m diameter x 13 m long shell supported mill, 6750 hp, equipped with a MAAG CPU-38b central drive and a SKS-Z 2750 High Efficiency Separator. The turnkey contract also includes a synthetic gypsum handling and feeding system for their existing Finish Mill No. 2 and the new Finish Mill No. 3.


The new finish mill system will be started in December 2004 and complete Lafarge’s new state-of-the-art Roberta Plant.
