St Marys recognised for energy managerment, Canada

St Marys Cement-Bowmanville is the first North American industrial organization to receive the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) ISO 50001 certification. The ISO 50001 standard is a framework for industrial facilities seeking to manage their energy use.

The processes adopted and leading to the ISO 50001 certification allowed the Bowmanville plant to reduce its energy consumption by over US$1m in 2011 and approximately US$1m more in savings are expected in 2012.
