Peruvian domestic shipments rise 14.2%

Cement shipments in the Peruvian market totalled 3.64Mt between January and May 2012, a 14.02 per cent increase over the figure recorded in the same period in 2011, according to data from local Cement Producers’ Association (Asocem).

During the five month period cement production was 3.71Mt representing a YoY increase of 12.75 per cent.

Cement exports, meanwhile, reached 58,060t, a YoY increase of 166.78 per cent during Jan-May 2012.

Total cement shipments (domestic market plus exports) between the first five months of the year totalled 3.70Mt, representing a rise of 15.5 per cent over the same period of 2011 (3.22Mt).

Last year, cement shipment reached 8.3Mt, 2.42 per cent increase over the figure recorded in 2010.
