07 August 2012

The Cement Industry Group of Algeria (Gica), which recently announced it plans to 450,000t of cement, will begin the construction of two cement plants with a total capacity of 3Mta.

These plants will be located in Béchar and Relizane. Gica will launch the work of determining the volume of deposits once the mining exploration rights have been obtained from the Agency for National Mining Heritage (ANPM). This was reported yesterday by APS quoting the group's director, Yahya M Bashir.

It is planned that the Béchar and Relizane cement factories will produce 1Mta and 2Mta of cement, respectively.

The Relizane plant will be realised in partnership with a foreign group. Gica and the National Investment Fund (NIF) will represent the Algerian side. On the other hand, the Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) will represent the foreign party. The Béchar plant will be realised by Gica alone.
