New cement unit for Tunisia operational by 2014

Tunisia will expand its cement production facilities in the region of Bizerte by 2014, according to Mehdi Jomaa, the country’s minister of industry.

State-owned Ciments de Bizerte operates at around 1Mta. The extension to the Bizerte plant represents an investment of TND250m (US$150.5m). Equipment has been delivered to site and the assembly process reportedly has started.
