SFERA eyes Montenegro project
10 October 2013

The Russia-based SFERA group is considering developing a cement plant in the Montenegrin town of Pljevlja, local media reported on Wednesday.

SFERA representatives and local company Crnogorski Cement Pljevlja met in Podgorica to discuss the project, as well as the potential of the Jagnjilo marl deposit site in the Pljevlja municipality, broadcaster RTCG reported.

Consumption in the Montenegro market presently stands at around 0.25Mta. Currently there are no cement production facilities and the country relies on imports for all its cement requirements. Serbia had traditionally been the main supplier but neighbouring Albania became the dominant force in 2012 following the start of Titan’s new Antea Cement works.
