Vietnam Jan-Aug sales up eight per cent YoY

Companies in Vietnam sold 42.53Mt of cement in the first eight months of this year, up eight per cent YoY and meeting 68.6 per cent of the year’s target, the Ministry of Construction said.

Of the total, 32.85Mt of cement were sold at the domestic market, up seven per cent YoY while 9.68Mt were exported, and increase of nine per cent YoY the ministry said.

In August, the country’s cement sales rose two per cent from the previous month and three per cent YoY to 5.29Mt despite the rainy season. Exports accounted for 1.1Mt of this total, rising 12 per cent MoM.

In September, the country’s cement sales are expected to increase slightly as many construction projects will restart. The recovery of the real estate market will also contribute to the growth of cement sector, the ministry said.
