Vietnam sold 9.01Mt of cement and clinker in the first two months of this year, meeting 12.5 per cent of the whole-year target, according to figures from the country's Ministry of Construction (MoC).

In February, the country’s domestic cement sales stood low at 2.38Mt, mainly due to the long public holidays, the MoC noted.

The ministry predicted Vietnam's sales of cement and clinker to rise 1.5-4 per cent YooY to between 72-74Mt in 2015, of which domestic sales are forecast to rise 4.5-6.5 per cent to 53-54Mt and exports are anticipated to be between 19-20Mt.

Vietnam currently has 74 cement production lines with a combined annual output of 77Mt. The country is expected to put into operation four cement plants including Cong Thanh, Dong Lam, Thach My and Trung Son with a combined capacity of 7.5Mt this year, raising the country’s total cement output to 81Mt in 2015.
