CCNN to increase power generation capacity, Nigeria
23 June 2015

The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) is to build an additional power plant to enable it to self-sufficiently supply its plant near Sokoto in the northwest of the African country.

The company is teaming up with CBMI (China) to build a new plant to increase power generation capacity from the current 12MW to 16MW, according to Alhaji Sada Suleiman, Principal Manager, Corporate Affairs of CCNN. Suleiman disclosed the information, which was subsequently reported by local press, to the Bureau of Public Enterprises' post- privatisation monitoring team during a recent plant visit.

Earlier he said that CCNN’s plant does not generate sufficient power to take the full load when running the plant on full capacity utilisation. He said CBMI of China has started the construction of a new 1Mta  line which should be commissioned by the end of next year.
