The Board of Directors of Cementos Argos has unanimously appointed Juan Esteban Calle as the new CEO of the company, effective 1 April 2016, replacing Jorge Mario Velasquez, who was recently elected as the new CEO of Grupo Argos.

The designation of Juan Esteban Calle was made by the Board of Directors of Cementos Argos, which is mostly composed by independent members. The selection process considered both, internal and external candidates, and had the support of a specialised firm in selection processes for management positions.

Juan Esteban Calle is a Business Administrator from the Universidad Eafit (Medellin, Colombia) and has a MBA with emphasis in Finances and Economics of the Chicago University.

Since January 2012 he has been the General Manager of the Empresas Publicas de Medellin, where he successfully led the transformation process of the EPM Group, the integration of its subsidiaries and the growth strategy in the local and international markets. Throughout his career, he has held positions such as Senior Associate of the Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, Finance Director of the Antioquia Department in Colombia, Foreign Investment Director of Proexport in the Canada office and Investment advisor of the Montreal Bank, among others.

He is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of: Tigo-Une Comunicaciones, Empresas Varias de Medellin, Ticsa México and Ensa Panamá. He has also participated in the Boards of Isa, Isagen and Metro de Medellin, among others.

Mr Velasquez will continue as CEO of Cementos Argos until March 2016, when he will assume the responsibility as CEO in Grupo Argos.
