Spain: cement consumption stagnates

Cement consumption in Spain has returned to the red numbers at the end of the 1Q16 with a fall of 0.5 per cent, which places the accumulated 2,565,811t in total, about 12,000 less than in the same period last year. With respect to March, the fall was 7.2 per cent, reaching 928,188t, 71,795 less than in the same month of 2015.

"Since June 2015 we see a sharp slowdown in consumption and erratic evolution of the same. Consequently, the consumption of the first quarter had a negative evolution, "says the CEO of Oficemen, Aniceto Zaragoza.

In this sense, insists Oficemen claim "recovery of a reasonable investor programme to all levels of government to the decline in basic infrastructure policies," he adds.
