11 October 2016

Intercem has completed the installation of a 90tph cement grinding plant with a ball mill, a clinker storage unit and four 1000t steel cement silos to Kampala Cement Co Ltd. All deliveries and services were included in Intercem’s scope of supply with the exception of the foundation works.

The upgrades ordered, which include three separate vibration feeders, two belt conveyors and a bucket elevator, have been installed for raw material handling. There also four silos serving truck loading stations and the finished product is transported via air conveyor troughs from the silos to the new packing line. Moreover, the eight-spout-packing line ordered directly from the manufacturer by the customer was completed, installed and commissioned by Intercem.

At the end of 2015, an additional contract was placed by KCCL due to the fact that the humidity content of the raw material pozzolan appeared much higher than initially expected and specified. Therefore, it was decided to order a 40tph pozzolan-dryer as well as a further storage for primary crushing and drying of the raw material at Intercem.
