Clinker imports to Angola decreased 13% in 2Q16

Clinker imports into Angola fell by 13.2 per cent in 2Q16 to 176,678t when compared with the same period in 2015, when the country imported 200,000t of clinker. Turkey imported 29,503t of this total.

In November Nova Cimangola announced that it would stop importing clinker and turn to domestically-produced product following the identification of a suitable raw material deposit near Luanda.

Earlier in the year, lack of foreign currency availability impacted on Secil Lobito’s ability to import the clinker required for its Lobito works.
