Bhutan reportedly experiencing delivery delays

With demand for cement rising in Bhutan, two of the countries leading cement manufacturers have been unable to deliver product to their customers on time, according to local press reports.

In Phuentsholing, cement agents have been complaining about delivery delays from Penden Cement Authority Ltd (PCAL). Cement agents told national newspaper Kuensel that: “It has been difficult to get enough supply in recent times.”

The cement agent, who is also an agent for Dungsam Cement Corporation Limited (DCCL) said the short supply of cement has affected both the construction and transportation sectors. Truckers that transport cement are also left with no work.

Another cement agent in Thimphu said he had not received any supplies from PCAL for the last three days and about three weeks from DCCL. “I am not sure whether we will get supply anytime soon,” he added.
