Peru: cement demand and exports fall but output stable

Cement consumption in Peru saw a six per cent YoY fall but recorded a 1.4 per cent MoM rise, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Demand reached 0.747Mt, down from 0.795Mt in the third month of 2016.

Domestic cement output remained stable, edging up 0.4 per cent YoY and by 2.9 per cent MoM, to 0.788Mt from 0.785Mt in March 2016.

Following a 16 per cent YoY increase in February, Peru’s cement exports contracted by four per cent in March. When compared with March 2016, when Peru exported 34,000t of cement, there was a 17.6 per cent drop to 28,000t.
