  • Breaking News: Explosion in Cement Plant

Hey; Our plant is an offline PC kiln with 5 stages preheater and bypass system. Last week a big explosion happened in our preheater riser duct towards Cyclone-5. The results of this explosion are: 1- Riser duct towards cyclone-5 damaged completely (Bricks and castable pieces found 1000 meter far from the preheater) 2- In several areas ...

  • Re: Bag filter outlet NOx and SOx

No, NOx and SOx cannot be calculated with any accuracy. For the NOx you would need to calculate the dilution through the raw mill. Preheater outlet NOx will be dependent on the amount of sulphide in the raw materials.

  • Re: Raw Meal PSD

The optimum will always be kiln feed and preheater specific. Sometimes the kiln feed must be ground finer to achieve combination in the kiln (white cement for example). Other times with easy to combine materials the kiln feed can be much coarser. Typical RR parameters for grey kiln feed are slope 1 to 1.6 and position parameter 35 to 45 microns.

  • Re: Preheater Fan Coating Problem

This is a common problem, although the link with Al2O3 content is unusual. Measures to avoid the problem include the use of an acoustic horn sounding into the preheater fan  housing, injection of fine silica sand into the gas stream entering the fan, water injection into the fan stream entering the fan or automatic fan balancing equipment as ...

  • Preheater Fan Coating Problem

We are experiencing frequent Preheter fan Coating Problem since one year. Hard flaky coating is depositing on vanes, which is unbalancing the fan and we are forced to stop due to high bearing vibrations. Alkalies and sulfur components are in the normal range when tested the coating sample. Major difference was observed in Alumina content, which ...

  • Re: Cement Kiln to Lime Kiln

Hi,  We did this exercise in 2004 when we converted our old 125t/h, single string cyclone preheater kiln into a 36t/h lime kiln. However, the Metso limestone preheater was sized for a specific lime market volume, not the actual maximum possible capacity of the kiln, which is estimated at about 80t/h. The old cyclone ...

  • Volatility of Fluoride

Hi,  Does anybody have any practical experience with the volatility of fluoride in the preheater?  We are currently burning 1 - 2tph of Spent Cell Liner (SCL) waste from a local aluminium refinery. This material contains ~10% fluoride.  We have tested our clinker and found that the above usage rates of SCL increase the fluoride ...

  • Re: alumina content in refractories

Dogra, In general 25% in preheater, precalciner and calcining zone. Rising to 65% in the upper transition zone. In general the burning zone would be lined with magnesia based refractories. Then the outlet zone and nose ring may be lined with high alumina refractories for abrasion resistance. In the cooler high alumina refractories might be used ...

  • Re: Kiln feed to clinker ratio

Dear Bashar, Certainly improving the collection efficiency of the cyclones in the preheater will improve the kiln feed to clinker ratio. With kiln feed of typical lime saturation and calcium carbonate content the kiln feed to clinker factor would be expected to be around 1.54 due to loss of CO2 from the CaCO3. That factor is increased by the ...
