Cementir reports 36% rise in 1H net profit

Cementir Holding posted broadly stable sales of EUR454.5m in the second quarter of 2023. Growth in Turkey, Asia-Pacific and Egypt was able to partially offset a decrease in revenues in the Nordic and Baltic area, Belgium and the USA. Holcim's results boosted by mild winter in Europe

Holcim's first quarter turnover declined by 5.4 per cent to CHF4,088m (€3,342m), but on a like-for-like basis, there was a 7.8 per cent increase while measured in euros the turnover was off by five per cent.  The operating EBITDA declined by 5.1 per cent to CHF617m (€504m), but this represents an underlying increase of 10.1 per cent. Fitch Affirms Holcim rating, outlook stable

Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Long-term Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) of Swiss cement major of Holcim as at BBB. The outlook is stable. The ratings agency said the affirmation reflects Holcim's leading market positions as one of the world's largest cement producers and its improving financial profile. Holcim reported a mixed performance in 2013 as attributable profit doubled while turnover declined. Overall volumes were down due to weaknesses in key emerging markets, but European shipments were finally on the up. For the full year Holcim’s turnover declined by 6.8 per cent to CHF19,719m (US$22,349m). The preliminary full-year 2013 figures from HeidelbergCement show turnover easing by 0.6 per cent to €13,936m, though on an underlying basis there was a 3.4 per cent increase.
