SigmaRoc records turnover of GBP49.3m in 2021

Building material producer SigmaRoc plc has announced its audited results for the year ended 31 December 2021 with turnover more than doubling to GBP272m and underlying EBITDA rising to GBP49.3m. Ecocem is appointing Paul Roos as Ecocem Benelux Managing Director and Joris Schoon as Technical Developer.   Prior to this appointment, Paul was the EMEA Commercial Director at Huntsman Corp. Luxembourg: worker killed at Rumelange plant

A worker has been killed after falling into a grinder at Cimalux’s Rumelange plant, reports the Luxemburger Wort. The plant is a subsidiary of the Dyckerhoff Group, which in turn is owned by Buzzi Unicem, and produces clinker for plants in Luxembourg and Germany. The worker, who has not been named, is a 59-year-old French citizen who was pronounced dead on the scene. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.

Quinn and Lagan Cement propose merger

Ireland-based Quinn Building Products and the Lagan Cement Group have signed a memorandum of understanding that may lead to a merger of the two groups. The businesses, which will become part of the proposed joint venture, are the combined cement and building products businesses based in Ballyconnell, Derrylin, Kinnegad, Belfast, Cork in Ireland and Benelux.
