Medcem Cameroon starts production

Medcem Cameroon, part of Turkey-based Eren Holdings, has commissioned its new plant in Yaoundé, Cameroon, after delays that saw the unit postpone the start of operations from March to June and October.  The company’s output is sold in 50kg bags, which retail at CFA4750 (US$7.97), according to local press reports.

Oyak Group, Turkey’s largest cement producer, has US$2bn in cash for acquisitions and may spend some of it on assets Holcim and Lafarge are looking to shed ahead of their planned merger. Turkey: CRH and Eren Holdings plan sale of JV

CRH and its Turkish partner Eren Holdings have applied to Turkey's competition regulator to sell their joint venture, Denizli Cimento, to army pension fund OYAK Group, according to a statement on the watchdog's website. Eren Holdings to build cement plant in Cameroon

Turkey-based Eren Holdings has signed an investment agreement with the Cameroon government which will see its local subsidiary Medcem build a new cement plant in the African country. The new works is expected to add 0.6Mta to the domestic production base, which currently consists of Lafarge’s Cimencam 1.6Mta plant and the 0.5Mta Cimaf unit of Addoha.
