ARM negotiating US$120m loan deal with IFC

ARM Cement Ltd of Kenya is trying to reach an agreement with the International Finance Corp about a capital injection of US$120m in loans, acccording to ARM's Chief Executive Officer, Pradeep Paunrana. The Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited (PIBTL) has issued 189.653m shares, or 20 per cent, stakes to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) at INR10 (US$0.09)/share for its bulk terminal to handle coal, clinker and cement under construction on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis at Port Qasim, near Karachi, Pakistan. BMM Cements Ltd (BCL) is planning to raise US$33m (around INR2bn) from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to fund its turnaround, Business Standard of India reports. Currently part of Bharat Mines & Minerals group (BMM group), BCL shareholders in November 2014 had agreed to transfer ownership to Sagar Cements Ltd (SCL). The IFC is providing up to US$70m to Kenya's National Cement Company Ltd (KNCC) to expand the cement producer's operations, increase the local cement supply and promote infrastructure development in Africa. Titan Cement announced the completion of a EUR50m equity investment by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Titan’s subsidiaries in the Western Balkans region including Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.
