Invecem’s San Sebastián de los Reyes cement plant in Aragua, Venezuela, has been out of action for three weeks as workers protested regarding wages and the lack of investment in the plant by the state. Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, has inaugurated a new line at the San Sebastian de los Reyes cement plant, owned by Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem). The new line will increase Type I cement production by 1Mta in the country, helping to supply cement to infrastructure projects and the Gran Misión Vivienda housing programme. The Sino-Venezuelan project represents an investment of US$168m.

Invecem to double San Sebastian output, Venezuela

Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem) is expected to double production at its plant in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Aragua state, brings its third production line on-stream, according to Venezuela’s industry minister, José David Cabello. The new line is a Sino-Venezuelan joint venture with an investment of US$144m, provided by the Chinese Fund as part of an agreement between the two countries.

Invecem awarded limestone and clay concession

Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem) has been granted a licence for limestone and clay exploitation by the state government of Falcón. The 20-year licence will enable the Venezuelan cement producer to increase production by 23 per cent. Venezuela to increase capacity of Cumarebo works

Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem) will increase capacity at its Cumarebo plant, in the northeast of Falcón state, according to the Minister of Basic and Intermediate Industries, Ricardo Menéndez. The plant expansion will be carried out by means of a capacity increase in the kiln from 3000 to 4200tpd – a project which will see an investment of US$75m. At the plant, works are ongoing to replace the clinker cooler and install a precalciner.

Venezuela produces more than 8Mt of cement

From October 2011 to October this year, Venezuelan cement companies produced 8.295Mt of cement, the highest annualised output in the country’s history, according to Entorno Inteligente.
