Slovenia-based cement producer, Salonit Anhovo , is expanding its rooftop solar power plant by 1.5MW. The installation on the roof of the company’s cement plant near Anhovo is already the largest of its kind in Slovenia at 2.2MW. Ljubljana-based Interenergo, a subsidiary of Austrian energy company Kelag, has been awarded the contract for the expansion. Christian Pfeiffer wins Slovenian ball mill project

Christian Pfeiffer has won the contract to build an efficient ball mill circuit for limestone milling for a Slovenian client. The centrepiece of the plant will be a 3.2m (diameter) air stream ball mill with drying compartment and a high performance DSL separator.  The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2021.

Salonit Anhovo suspends production for two weeks

Slovenia’s Salonit Anhovo has suspended production for two weeks from 20 April, due to demand in its Italian and Slovenian markets falling amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis. However, the company will continue to make cement shipments to its customers. "We expect that cement sales on the domestic market will stabilise again as the government is providing incentives for construction activities," said Dejan Zwitter, Salonit management board member.

Cementarna Trbovlje seeks to resume operations

Slovenia’s Cementarna Trbovlje (LafargeHolcim) has requested an environmental permit from the country’s authorities to resume cement grinding, storage and dispatch, according to Delo. The company lost its environmental permit in 2014 and halted operations in February 2015. As the plant is not expected to produce raw materials, it will buy them alongside cement additives. The producer was once the second-largest on the domestic market with a capacity of 0.52Mta.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced it is to provide a EUR15m loan to Salonit Anhovo to help it improve its operations. Lafarge Cement (Slovenia) confirmed Wednesday it had filed a new request for an environmental permit, though it would not comment on the details of its filing, the Slovenian Press Agency reports.
