Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co has appointed Saad Bin Abdulaziz Alkroud as chairman of the Board of Directors. Mansour bin Abdulaziz Al Saghir was named as vice chairman and Saudi Al Burgan as secretary of the Board of Directors.

Southern Province sees 42% fall in 1H net profits

In the first half of 2022, Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co reported net profits after zakat and tax of SAR150m, down 41.6 per cent YoY from SAR257m in the 1H21, according to Mubasher. The company’s revenues declined by 22.4 per cent YoY to SAR564m from SAR727m in the 1H21. During the second quarter of 2020 net profits after zakat and tax fell 29.9 per cent yoY to SAR61m from SAR87m in the 2Q21. Revenues decreased by 18.5 per cent to SAR234m in the 2Q22 from SAR287m in 2Q21.

Southern Province Cement starts work on new Jazan plant

Southern Province Cement Co has started work on its new 5000tpd plant in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. The project is part of the company’s plans to boost its production capacity to 10,000tpd and gradually replace its current production lines. Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co has posted a revenue of SAR330m (US$88m) for the first three months of 2022. This represents a 25 per cent drop when compared with the 1Q21. Southern Province Cement elects new board members

Saudi Arabia's Southern Province Cement Co has elected new members to the board of directors for its new session, which began on 1 January 2021 for a period of three years. As such, Dr Hamad Bin Suliman Al-Bazai will serve as the new chairman of the board. Mohammed Bin Nasser Al-Nabit is vice-chairman and Saud Bin Safar Al-Bargan is secretary of the board.

Southern Province Cement 1Q profit up

Saudi cement producer Southern Province Cement Co reported a net profit after zakat and tax of SAR183m (US$48.8m) for the first quarter of 2020, up 52.5 per cent from SAR120m in the 1Q19. First-quarter 2020 sales increased 33.6 per cent to SAR457m from SAR342m in the year-ago period. Local sales volumes were up 27.5 per cent YoY and export sales advanced 48.6 per cent YoY in the 1Q20. Financial costs fell by 31.1 per cent YoY.

Saudi cement producer Southern Province Cement Co saw its net profit after zakat and tax surge to SAR90.3m (US$24m) in the 3Q19 from SAR5.4m in the 3Q18. Third-quarter sales rose by 45.9 per cent to SAR286m in 2019 from SAR196m in the year-ago period. The company also noted a 8.1 per cent YoY fall in finance costs.

Saudi cement producer Southern Province Cement Co reported 17.6 per cent YoY growth in 1Q profits (after zakat and tax) to SAR120m (US$32m) in 2019. When compared with the previous quarter, profits surged 130.8 per cent from SAR52m in 4Q18. The increase in profit was attributed to a 24.8 per cent increase in sales revenues to SAR342m, a 37.3 hike in sales volume and a 9.6 per cent decline in financing costs, according to a company statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange.
