International Cement Group sees revenue advance 14% YoY

International Cement Group (ICG) , which operates cement plants in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, has reported revenue of SGD257.4m (US$191.4m) in 2023, up 14 per cent on the SGD225.2m seen in the previous year. Net income over the same period was down 44 per cent to SGD16.1m. Dushanbe cement plant closed

OJSC Cementi Tojik (Tajik Cement) has closed of the Dushanbe cement plant due to considerable air pollution in Tajikistan’s capital city.   The plant has been replaced by a new production unit. Earlier this year Tajik Cement opened a 1.2Mta cement plant in Ismoili Somoni, Dushanbe, on a 35ha plot. The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the plant was held on 17 September 2019.

The Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) Cementi Tojik (Tajik Cement), which operates the Dushanbe cement plant, has announced its closure and the cement plant was shut down on 26 December 2023, according to a report by Asia Plus Information Agency.   The Government of Tajikistan issued an order on June 29 to shut down the Dushanbe cement plant as it causes serious air pollution in the capital city.

Tojikcement CJSC  has opened a new cement plant in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, reports bne IntelliNews. The 3300tpd (1.089Mta) plant replaces the company’s old works, which first began operating in 1942. Tajikistan has reported cement production of 2.1Mt in the opening six months of 2023. Of this total, more than 538,000t were exported, down 138,000t compared to the same period a year earlier. The State Committee of Uzbekistan on Statistics said the country receives the largest part of its cement imports from Tajikistan, which exported in the 8M22 approximately 625,000t of cement into Uzbekistan. Tajikistan produced 2.9Mt of cement in the January-August 2022 period. Other key importers include Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan, which exported 458,000t and 409,000t, respectively to Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan reduces imports by 25% in 7M22

In the January-July 2022 period Uzbekistan has imported 1.3Mt of cement, with a value of US$52.2m. In terms of volume, this represents a 24.5 per cent YoY drop from 1.721Mt in the 7M21, reports Asia-Plus. Of this total, 533,000t was exported by Tajikistan, which is the largest importer into Uzbekistan. Other sizeable volumes originated in Kyrgyzstan (385,000t) and Kazakhstan (353,000t). Cement production in Tajikistan drops 9% in Jan-May

In the January-May 2022 period cement production in Tajikistan has declined 8.6 per cent YoY to 1.6Mt from 1.8Mt. In 2021 the country produced more than 4.2Mt with approximately 1.5Mt exported to Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. At the start of June 2022 construction started of the 0.1Mta Fon-Cement cement plant in the Sughd region.

Cement production in Tajikistan declined in 1Q22

Cement plants in Tajikistan saw a 5.9 per cent YoY drop in cement production to 971,000t in the first quarter of 2022, according to the country’s statistics office. In January-March 2021, Tajikistan’s cement production reached 1.031Mt. In addition, the Ministry of Economic Development and trade has predicted cement output to advance to 7Mta by 2024 as well as a 200,000tpa increase of exports by 2024. In 2020 Tajikistan produced 4.2Mt of cement and exported 1.3Mta.

Tajikistan plans to increase cement exports to 2Mt by 2024, with an annual growth of 200,000t, according to the latest forecast of key macroeconomic indicators for the country. Cement production is projected to increase to 7Mt by 2024, reports Trend. Currently cement capacity in Tajikistan reaches approximately 7.7Mta, according to The Global Cement Report, 14th Edition.
