Twiga Cement commissions rehabilitated cement mill

As part of the strategic development plan at Twiga Cement factory (HeidelbergCement group) has rehabilitated the cement Mill No 2 (CM2) at the plant. The project represents an investment if US$3.2m and it was officially inaugurated on 16 November 2021 by the Prime Minister of Tanzania, H E Kassim Majaliwa. The new cement mill plus additional investments of 2021 have increased Twiga Cement’s production capacity by 0.25Mta.

Tanzania Portland Cement (Twiga Cement) saw its pretax profit rise 25 per cent YoY to TZS107.42bn (US$46.3m) in 2020, against TZS85.87bn in the previous year. Tanzania Portland Cement (Twiga) has reported a 33 per cent YoY increase in net profit to TZS34.94bn (US$15.05m) in the first half of 2020, against TZS26.19bn in the 1H19. Tanzania Portland Cement (TPC PLC), also known as Twiga Cement, recorded a 28 per cent YoY increase in operating profit for 2018, rising to TZS80.06bn (US$34.8m) from TZS62.67bn. Tanzania Portland Cement Company, or Twiga Cement, has appointed a new managing director following the departure of the company’s previous MD decision to take on a new role in parent company, HeidelbergCement Group. Twiga Cement announced at its Annual General Meeting held in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the dividend had risen from TZS267 (US$0.12) in 2014 to TZS306 in 2015.
