Loma Negra to cut 265 jobs

Argentine cement producer Loma Negra, part of the InterCement Group, has announced that it plans to cut 265 jobs in its Barker cement plant Barker, Buenos Aires province. Currently the plant employs 330 staff. The company attributes the personnel reduction to the economic recession. The government is currently negotiating a solution, according to Esmerk Latin American News.

Hongshi Shivam Pvt Ltd employs local Nepalis for plant development

The development of the Hongshi Shivam Cement Pvt Ltd plant in Nepal has provided employment to more than 1000 Nepalis directly or indirectly, according to My Republica. The plant workers earn a minimum of NPR20,000 (US$194) per month and the company has spent NPR128m on the salary of local workers so far. Holcim Obourg reduces job losses

The management of Holcim’s Obourg plant in Belgium and the unions have signed an agreement regarding the restructuring of the works. The majority of the 38 staff that will be laid off will leave the company on early retirement packages and only four will be dismissed. This lowers the initial reduction in staff by 10 after lengthy negotiations took place. The plant will now be operated by around 200 people.
