DG Khan Cement reports 7% rise in revenue

Pakistan’s DG Khan Cement has announced a net profit of PKR2.24bn (US$14.45m) in the first quarter of 2021, compared to a PKR1.07bn loss in the year-ago period. Zuari Cement issued with closure order

Zuari Cement’s operations in Yerraguntla, Kadapa, has been issued with a closure order by India’s Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB). The closure orders were issued to the company for failing to abide by the environmental conditions prescribed by the pollution control board, according to the New Indian Express. As a result, the APPCB has asked the local power distributor to disconnect power connectivity to the plant.

ACC and Ambuja partner to research sustainable solutions

India’s ACC and Ambuja Cement (LafargeHolcim) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to develop green and sustainable building solutions, according to a press release. Power Cement posts surge in revenue

Pakistan’s Power Cement has seen its revenue surge 341 per cent to PKR10.96bn (US$71.39m) in the nine-month period ended 31 March, compared to PKR2.65bn in the year-ago period. Its profit after tax reached PKR110.5m against a PKR1.75bn loss in the 9MFY19-20. In the 3QFY20-21 revenue advanced to PKR4.1bn from PKR1.39bn, while profit after tax returned to PKR41.68m from a PKR1.38bn loss in the 3QFY19-20.

ACC reports 74% rise in profit for the 1Q21

India's ACC (LafargeHolcim) has reported a 74 per cent rise in net profit for the first quarter of 2021, rising to INR5.63bn (US$75.33m) from INR3.23bn in the year-ago period. L&T Construction wins 3.5Mta project in India

India-based Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Construction has announced several significant contracts across multiple sectors, including the cement industry, with values in the range of INR10-25bn (US$134-334m). As such, its building and factories segment won an order from one of the country’s leading cement manufacturers for a 3.5Mta brownfield project in Nimbahera, Rajasthan. Kohat Cement returns to profit in 3Q

Orient Cement's INR21bn project cleared to begin

India’s environment ministry has reportedly cleared Orient Cement’s INR21bn (US$280.27m) expansion plan for its Telangana plant, according to the India National Press.  In 2017 the company announced its plans to expand its Devapur plant in Telangana and Chittapur unit in Karnataka for an estimated capital expenditure of INR36bn. However, the plans were stalled and were with the environment ministry for the last two years as an expert panel sought several clarifications.

NCL Industries reports 33% increase in production

India’s NCL Industries has reported a 33 per cent YoY rise in cement production to 691,136t in the 4QFY20-21, compared to 519,339t in the year-ago period. Cement dispatches also advanced 38 per cent to 701,949t from 508,392t. The company’s production of cement boards reached 19,740t, while board dispatches was at 22,188t during the final quarter of the FY20-21.

Maple Leaf Cement Factory increases clinker capacity

Pakistan’s Maple Leaf Cement Factory has expanded clinker capacity at Line 3 of its Iskandarabad plant in Punjab. The brownfield project has boosted the line’s capacity by 500tpd to 7800tpd. As a result, the company’s total grey clinker capacity has now reached 18,500tpd from 18,000tpd previously. This is in advance of the 7000tpd Line 4 project, which was announced last month.
