Large quantities of cement from Saudi Arabia are being smuggled into Yemen at competitive prices due to the decline of local supply and increased demand in Yemen, according to local press reports. Pakistan eight-month export sales rise in value terms

During the first eight months of the current fiscal (July 2011-June 2012), Pakistan cement exports have progressed in terms of value while the markets of Afghanistan, India and Saudi Arabia look promising.  The eight month period (July 2011-February 2012) saw Pakistan export 5.855Mt of cement with a value of US$303.127m compared to 5.905Mt at US$290.852m in the corresponding period of last year. Saudi Arabia has set  the factory price of cement at SAR12/bag (US$3.20) and the retail price at SAR14/bag, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq al-Rabea. Saudi Arabian cement producer, Al Jouf Cement, said it has signed and agreement with Saudi British Bank (SABB) for a SAR350m (US$93.3m) five-year Islamic facility. Saudi Arabia removes restrictions on cement imports

Saudi Arabia removed restrictions on cement imports to secure extra supplies at a stable price, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said. “There are no restrictions on cement imports currently,” according to a statement posted on the Ministry’s website. Cement exports have already been halted and plants have been ordered to operate at full capacity. The kingdom’s western region has suffered a cement shortages as the government has increased infrastructure spending, Bloomberg reports....

Southern Province new line begins production, Saudi Arabia

Southern Province Cement (SPC) said the production line at its Tuhama plant started commercial production last week. The new 5000tpd line brings the Tuhama plant capacity to 10,000tpd and SPC’s total capacity to 23,000tpd. Last month the company announced the launch of trial productions at its new line, SeeNews Middle East and Africa reports.
