Mozambique prices expected to fall

Mozambique’s minister of industry and trade Armando Inroga expects cement prices will fall by year-end as production stabilises. Further reductions are expected next year as competition increases with new facilities coming on-stream. In the capital Maputo prices have climbed from MZN215/50kg bag (US$7.5) to MZN240 (US$8.3). Iran forecast to produce 75Mt cement by year-end

Iran is projected to produce 75Mt of cement by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013), according to local news reports. ISNA quoted Iranian deputy industry minister, Vajihollah Jafari, as saying that production capacity will be 86Mt by the end of the year. Iran exported over 6.8Mt of cement during the first six months of the current (Iranian) year.

Chinese cement stocks have rebounded 20 per cent since early September, and Bank of AmericaMerrill Lynch believes the industry outlook tends to turn positive as new production capacity is expected to plunge starting from 2013. The demand for and production capacity of cement are set to be more balanced after excessive production capacity in the third quarter. Sibirsky Cement nine month output rises, Russia

Sibirsky Cement increased cement output 5.3 per cent YoY to 3.148Mt in the nine months to September 2012, the company said in a statement. Indian producer Ambuja Cements said sales rose 4.73 per cent to 1.55Mt in September from 1.48Mt in the same month a year ago, the company said in a statement. The company reported growth of 6.85 per cent in cement production at 1.56Mt, compared to 1.46Mt in September 2011. ACC Ltd, part of the Holcim Group, reported that its production in September rose by nine per cent to 1.82Mt from  1.67Mt in the same month of 2011.
