National dispatches in Peru fell by 12 per cent YoY to 0.958Mt in December 2023, according to the country's cement association, Asocem. Of this total, 0.885Mt were dispatched by Asocem members. Hetauda Cement to resume production in February

Following closure for three months due to a coal shortage, Nepal-based Hetauda Cement Industries Ltd  is expected to resume production at its plant in Makanwanpur in the first week of February, according to República. Cement consumption in Argentina fell by 13.1 per cent YoY and 20.5 per cent MoM to 810,314t in December 2023, down from 932,660t in December 2022, reports the Argentine cement producers’ association, AFCP. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico declined by 3.6 per cent YoY to 10.1Mt in October 2023, reports the US Geological Survey (USGS). Of the total blended cement volume, 5.6Mt, or 99 per cent, was estimated to be Portland limestone cement. Cement production in Italy slipped by two per cent YoY in October 2023, according to the Italian concrete association, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015-baseline index of 100, output edged up to 101. Cement dispatches in Colombia fell by 1.3 per cent YoY to 1.103Mt in November 2023 from 1.118Mt in the year-ago period, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Cement production in Ukraine came in at 5.8Mt in the first 11 months of 2023, according to Ukrcement. This marks a 38.2 per cent increase on the same period a year earlier.
