USA: Essroc acquires slag cement grinding unit from Holcim

Essroc has signed an agreement to acquire the slag cement grinding facility located in Camden, New Jersey, US from Holcim (US). As part of the transaction, Essroc will also obtain Holcim’s cement terminal in Everett, Massachusetts, US. Upon completion of the transaction, Holcim’s staff in Camden and Everett will join Essroc. The acquisition is expected to be completed later 2015.

Essroc, the North American subsidiary of Italcementi group company Ciments Français, has signed an agreement with Holcim to purchase the slag cement grinding facility in Camden, New Jersey, USA. As part of the transaction, Essroc will also obtain Holcim cement terminal in Everett (Massachusetts). Essroc Cement Corp is suing to stop a natural gas pipeline from running through its Lawrence County property. Nazareth-based Essroc Cement Corp filed the lawsuit last Tuesday to stop the line, which is slated to go through the company’s land in North Beaver Township. Essroc Cement Corporation has agreed to pay a US$82,000 fine for alleged violations. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) imposed the fine to settle alleged violations of toxic chemical reporting requirements at Essroc’s plant in Nazareth, PA.
