LafargeHolcim launch water-resistant cement in Bangladesh

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh has launched its Holcim Water project, a customised solution of water-resistant cement for the local cement market. The specially-designed cement reduces capillary action by resisting the permeation of water to make the product damp and seepage resistant. "This product has been developed through continuous consumer engagement, research and understanding of the damaging impact of water on houses," said Rajesh Surana, CEO of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh.

LafargeHolcim Tanzania has launched Lafarge Tembo Pozzi, a new product to substitute fly ash, according to the Tanzania Standard. The country reportedly imports about 40,000tpa of fly ash on average. Turkmenistan's Lebap plant begins testing new cement products

Turkmenistan’s Lebap cement has begun test production of M-400 D-20 and M-500 D-20 cement, which includes ground basalt powder as a locally-sourced additive. Currently the most popular products in the market are M-400, M-500 and M-400 sulphate-resistant cement. Kelyata Plant also produces drilling Portland cement (DPC)-1-100 for use in the oil and gas industry. So far this year, Lebap has exported around 160,000t of cement to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

Philippine cement producer Republic Cement introduced its Kapit-Balay masonry cement to the market at its Partners’ Night at the Maayo Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu. Kapit-Balay cement is a Type S high-strength masonry cement optimised for ease of application and adhesion. It is suitable for plastering, brick or block laying and filling. With a lower clinker-to-cement ratio due to its light micro-materials, its production delivers a cement with a lower carbon footprint.
