Iranian cement producers supply 4.21Mt in January

Cement producers in Iran produced 4.21Mt of cement and 5.23Mt of clinker, according to the Iranian Cement Association. They supplied the domestic market with 4.23Mt while clinker and cement exports reached 0.81Mt and 0.24Mt, respectively.

Senegal sales up 12% YoY

Cement sales in Senegal advanced 12.7 per cent MoM and by 11.9 per cent YoY in November 2021, according to its National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD). Output from the plants of SOCOCIM, Dangote and Ciments du Sahel increased by 11 per cent MoM  and by 20.7 per cent YoY in November 2021. Exports declined 5.6 per cent in November 2021 when compared with export shipments in October 2021 although YoY they were up 29.6 per cent.

Dominican cement production sees 23% advance in 2021

In 2021 cement producers in the Dominican Republic manufactured 6.5Mt of cement, supplying a construction industry that saw 23.4 per cent growth as the country started its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Bolivia’s cement market contracted by 13.8 per cent YoY to 329,982t in October 2021 but when compared with October 2019, the decline in demand was 13.1 per cent, according to the country’s statistics agency, INE. Colombian cement sales increased by 7.6 per cent YoY to 1.135Mt in December 2021 from 1.054Mt in December 2020, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Of this total bulk sales were up 18.2 per cent while bagged cement saw a 3.5 per cent expansion. Argentina’s cement market saw a two per cent contraction to 877,200t in January 2022 when compared with January 2021 when sales reached 895,416t, reports the country’s cement association, AFCP. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico saw a 9.2 per cent YoY hike to 9.4Mt in November 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement production in Italy increased by eight per cent in October 2021 but slipped six per cent in November when compared with the base year of 2015, according to Federbeton, Italy’s concrete association. Puerto Rico sees 8-year high in cement sales

Puerto Rican cement sales in 2021 reached 15.6m bags, or 679,300t - a high not seen in eight years, according to the country’s Statistics Institute. This represents a 12.5 per cent YoY advance. Total sales were up by 31.7 per cent from 12.4m bags to 16.3m bags. However, output from the country’s cement plants fell 29.5 percent to 7.4m bags. Production has been on the decline in the last three years, reports business newspaper Sin Comillas.

SONOCC announces resumption of production

Société nouvelle des ciments du Congo (SONOCC) will restart its production of cement from 31 January after several weeks of work stoppage, said the company’s Director General, Il Xingtao.
