Argentina's cement market contracts 47% in March

Cement demand in Argentina fell 46.5 per cent to 502,541t in March 2020 when compared to March 2019 when consumption reached 940,167t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Tajikistan has significantly increased production of cement this year despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated economic recession in the country, according to the Tajik Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and local media reports. Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 5.3 per cent YoY to 1.025Mt in February 2020, according to the Colombian statistics office, DANE. In February 2019 dispatches reached 0.973Mt. National cement demand in Peru advanced 5.3 per cent in February 2020 to 0.935Mt when compared with February 2019, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. In the first two months of the year, 11.78Mt of cement was consumed, up 4.8 per cent YoY. Uzbekistan sees production fall 13% YoY in February

Uzbekistan’s Portland cement production fell 13 per cent YoY to 551,200t in February 2020, according to the country’s State Statistics Committee. In the first two months of the year, production was down 19.5 per cent to 1.02Mt when compared to the same period last year. The production of Portland cement in 2019 increased 15.9 per cent YoY to 9.68Mt, while imports declined by 6.8 per cent to 3.27Mt.

INC produces record 0.484Mt of clinker in 2019

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) produced 0.484Mt of clinker in 2019, the highest output reported since the fuel conversion project at the Vallemí plant and is among the top 10 recorded since the start of the state company, said INC President, Ernesto Benítez. Ukraine cement industry increases output after import antidumping duties

Ukraine’s cement production advanced 10.6 per cent after anti-dumping duties on cement imports were introduced, according to Ukrcement Executive Director, Roman Skilskyi. “After Ukraine introduced antidumping duties in May 2019, cement companies increased the production output of cement clinker by 10.6 per cent as of August 2019 compared to August 2018,” Mr Skilskyi said. Chechencement in Russia’s Republic of Chechnya increased its production capacity by 34 per cent to 0.64Mta in 2019.
