Iskitim Cement produces 684,000t in the 8M20

Russia’s Iskitim Cement (Sibcem) produced 684,000t of cement in the first eight months of 2020, down 13 per cent compared to the target of the company. By late 2020, the company is expected to reach 90 per cent of its targeted volume for the year. Managing Director of Iskitimtsement, Vladimir Skakun, noted that the decline in production volumes was influenced by the suspension of all construction projects due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 24.4 per cent to 59,295t in August 2020 when compared with August 2019, according to data provided by Cemex Puerto Rico and Argos San Juan Corp to the Instituto de Estadisticas of Puerto Rico. Cement dispatches in Peru slipped 0.1 per cent YoY but increased 12.9 per cent MoM to 0.933Mt in August 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Chinese cement output increased 3.6 per cent in July as a pick-up in the economy drove cement consumption, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information technology. China produced 220Mt of cement in July 2020 when compared with July 2019. In the first seven months of 2020, production declined by 3.5 per cent YoY to 1.22bnt. The sector’s total revenues fell 5.5 per cent YoY to CNY510.9bn (US$74.7bn). Its total profits reached CNY92.6bn.

The Argentine cement market contracted 12.5 per cent YoY to 917,297t in August 2020, according to the latest data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association.
