Argentina sees 18% demand increase in August

In August 2021 the Argentine market expanded by 18.2 per cent YoY to 1,083,914t from 917,233t in August 2020 while MoM there was a 3.9 per cent improvement in offtake, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP). Italy sees 32% advance in 1H production

Domestic cement output in Italy picked up by two per cent YoY in June 2021, following a YoY increase of 18 per cent in May 2021, according to Federbeton. In the January-June period output has advanced 32 per cent when compared with the year-ago period. To supplement local supply, Italy imported 151,444t of cement in May 2021, up 75 per cent YoY. The Colombian cement market expanded by 3.6 per cent to 1.132Mt in July 2021 when compared with dispatches of 1.093Mt in July 2020 and by 7.5 per cent when compared with 1.113Mt in July 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Bolivia’s cement market sees 26% expansion in June

Cement consumption in Bolivia increased 25.6 per cent YoY to 289,440t in June 2021 from 230,378t in June 2020, according to data from the country’s statistics office, INE. However, when compared with June 2019, when demand reached 330,612t, a 30.3 per cent contraction was reported. Domestic cement production increased 25.5 per cent YoY to 299,517t in June 2021 from 238,640t in June 2020. However, when compared with an output of 339,171t in June 2019, a 29.6 per cent contraction was reported.

Kenya consumption up 27% in 5M21

Cement consumption in Kenya advanced 26.6 per cent YoY to 3.35Mt in the January-May 2021 period when compared with 2.64Mt in the 5M20, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. The increase was supported by ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Nairobi Expressway and higher activity in the real estate market. Iran’s cement market contracted by 30.8 per cent MoM to 4Mt in July 2021 from 5.78Mt in June 2021. Clinker production declined from 6.75Mt in June 2021 to 3.95Mt in July 2021 while cement output decreased to 4.38Mt in July from 6.02Mt in June. In addition to a shrinking domestic market, exports of cement and clinker in July fell to 0.41Mt and 0.3Mt, respectively when compared with the previous month, when cement and clinker exports stood at 0.36Mt and 0.63Mt, respectively.

Uzbekistan posts 23% production increase in 1H21

Uzbekistan has reported a 23 per cent YoY increase in Portland cement production to 5.8Mt in the first half of 2021, according to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan. Argentina’s cement consumption increased 20.9 per cent YoY and 8.5 per cent MoM to 1,043,388Mt in July 2021 from 862,675t in July 2020 and from 961,512t in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Bolivian cement demand advanced 125 per cent to 295,026t in May 2021 when compared with the low base of 131,101t in May 2020, according to Bolivia’s statistics office, INE.
