Iranian cement demand expands 7% MoM in August

Iran’s cement consumption reached 4.27Mt in August 2021, according to the Iranian cement association. This represents a 6.8 per cent uptick when compared with July 2021. Cement and clinker production stood at 4.79Mt and 5.08Mt, respectively. In addition to supplying the domestic market, Iranian cement producer exported 0.32Mt of cement and 0.44Mt of clinker.

Cement dispatches in Peru advanced 18 per cent to 1.202Mt in August 2021 when compared with 1.018Mt in August 2020, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Cement production in Zambia in the first half of 2021 increased by five per cent to 1.2Mta, compared to 1.1Mta in 2020, according to data from the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development. Cement prices rose to ZMW130 (US$7.89)/50kg bag from just under ZMW90 as cement companies cited a gypsum shortage as a contributing factor.

Uruguayan cement producers see 8% increase in June dispatches

Cement producers in Uruguay increased their total deliveries by 8.3 per cent YoY to 60,950t in June 2021 from 55,930t in June 2020, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland del Uruguay (AFCPU). Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico remained stable at 10.1Mt in June 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). In August 2021 the Argentine market expanded by 18.2 per cent YoY to 1,083,914t from 917,233t in August 2020 while MoM there was a 3.9 per cent improvement in offtake, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP). Italy sees 32% advance in 1H production

Domestic cement output in Italy picked up by two per cent YoY in June 2021, following a YoY increase of 18 per cent in May 2021, according to Federbeton. In the January-June period output has advanced 32 per cent when compared with the year-ago period. To supplement local supply, Italy imported 151,444t of cement in May 2021, up 75 per cent YoY. The Colombian cement market expanded by 3.6 per cent to 1.132Mt in July 2021 when compared with dispatches of 1.093Mt in July 2020 and by 7.5 per cent when compared with 1.113Mt in July 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Cement consumption in Bolivia increased 25.6 per cent YoY to 289,440t in June 2021 from 230,378t in June 2020, according to data from the country’s statistics office, INE. However, when compared with June 2019, when demand reached 330,612t, a 30.3 per cent contraction was reported. Domestic cement production increased 25.5 per cent YoY to 299,517t in June 2021 from 238,640t in June 2020.
