Azerbaijan sees cement production down 8% in 2020

The value of construction materials produced in Azerbaijan has been estimated at AZN718.9m (US$422m) for 2020, largely consistent with the previous year, according to the State Statistics Committee (SSC). The preliminary report shows a 7.5 per cent YoY decline in cement production to 3.226Mt. However, ready-mix production was up 6.5 per cent to 2.024Mt.

Peru cement market expands 12% YoY in December

Domestic dispatches in Peru increased 12 per cent YoY from 0.979Mt in December 2019 to 1.098Mt in December 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production advanced 18 per cent YoY in December 2020 as Asocem members produced 1.077Mt of cement. Output in December 2019 was 0.916Mt. Cement exports in December 2020 fell 36 per cent YoY to 12,000t from 19,000t in December 2019, but clinker exports surged from 33,000t in December 2019 to 105,000t in December 2020....

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 41 per cent YoY to 60,076t in December when compared with December 2019 when market offtake reached 42,594t, according to Puerto Rican Development Bank. Output from Cemex Puerto Rico and Argos San Juan Corp slipped 4.3 per cent YoY  to 41,686t in December 2020 from 43,581t in the year-ago period. Bolivian cement market expands 1% in October

Cement consumption in Bolivia edged up 0.8 per cent YoY to 382,944t in October 2020 from 379,781t in October 2019, according to Bolivia’s national statistics agency, INE. In the country’s largest market, La Paz, demand rose 12.1 per cent YoY to 101,185t while in Cochabamba, offtake was 2.9 per cent up YoY to 97,911t. Nepal’s state-owned Udayapur Cement Industry has announced plans to increase production capacity to 800tpd from 350tpd, according to the New Business Age. Vietnam’s total sales of cement and clinker has been estimated at 101.5Mt for 2020, representing a rise of 1.5 per cent over 2019. Shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports in the USA and Puerto Rico, increased by three per cent YoY to 9.8Mt in October 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
