Over 9–12 June 2025, the Conrad Hotel in Seoul hosted Cemtech Asia 2025, the leading regional conference and exhibition for the Asian cement sector. Organised by International Cement Review, the event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to explore the path towards decarbonisation and operational excellence across the cement value chain.
A strong opening
Thomas Armstrong, Managing Editor of International Cement Review, welcomed delegates to Seoul, the first time a major international cement conference has taken place in South Korea, this was followed by a congratulatory address from Seung-Ryul Lee, Deputy Minister for Industrial Policy at South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Gun-Sik Jeon, President of the Korea Cement Association, delivered the keynote, setting the tone for a programme focused on carbon neutrality, innovation, and collaboration.
Decarbonisation in focus
Day One featured a series of high-level presentations on carbon reduction strategies. Highlights included:
- Eui-Chul Kim (Korea Cement Association) outlining South Korea’s strategic plan for carbon neutrality by 2050
- Samanvaya Reddy (GCCA India) and Girish Sethi (TERI) presenting India’s roadmap to net zero CO2 by 2070
- Wang Jiajun (Huaxin Cement, China) sharing Huaxin’s carbon-neutral ambitions
- Peter Hoddinott, independent consultant, on the role of calcined clay binders in decarbonising concrete
Technical sessions explored alternative fuels, hydrogen-based combustion technologies, and the role of AI in process optimisation, underscoring the industry’s drive towards efficiency and sustainability.
Technology and innovation
Day Two shifted focus to cutting-edge technologies enabling emissions reduction and operational excellence. Presentations from KHD Humboldt Wedag, Di Matteo, LV Technology, Claudius Peters, Fives FCB, and others highlighted solutions ranging from alternative fuel preparation to vertical roller mills, cooler efficiency, and advanced carbon capture methods.
Case studies – such as Kima Process Control’s Kilncooler installation at Danyang – provided practical insights into innovation in action.
Networking and knowledge sharing
Beyond the technical sessions, Cemtech Asia 2025 offered abundant networking opportunities. Delegates connected at coffee breaks in the 35 stand exhibition area featuring many of the leading technology suppliers to the cement industry.
Plant tour
The final day featured a plant tour to Hanil Cement’s Danyang facility, giving participants a first-hand look at modern cement production technologies in operation.
A successful edition
With a comprehensive programme, diverse international speakers, and strong delegate participation, Cemtech Asia 2025 once again proved to be the region’s premier platform for cement professionals to exchange knowledge, discover new technologies, and drive progress towards a low-carbon future.

Gala Dinner
A highlight of Cemtech Asia 2025 was the gala dinner on 11 June, where delegates relaxed after two days of intensive presentations and networking. Hosted in true Seoul style, the evening featured a vibrant line-up of entertainment, with live music, traditional Korean performances, and a lively dance floor. The showstopper of the night came when the crowd joined in for some “Gangnam Style”.
