About International Cement Review

Tradeship Publications Ltd was founded by David Hargreaves, who launched the first issue of International Cement Review (ICR) in April 1988. His aim was to bring technical information and market research to an increasingly international cement industry. The magazine remains at the heart of our business.

David came to publishing through a career at sea. Born in Lancashire, he joined the Merchant Navy and became a Master Mariner at the age of 25. After moving ashore, his work as an analyst and journalist in the shipping sector led him to recognise an opportunity for a specialist cement publication.

As cement companies expanded across borders, ICR developed an international readership among plant managers and company executives. David extended the company's publishing work with the launch of The Global Cement Report in 1990, followed by specialist reference titles including The Cement Plant Operations Handbook.

Today, the company is run by the second generation of the family, Thomas Armstrong and David Hargreaves Jnr. We continue to develop our publications and services around the needs of the cement industry, building on the business established by our founder.

International Cement Review covers the business and technology of cement: market developments, corporate strategy, plant operations, manufacturing technology, environmental performance, shipping and trade.
