Global aggregates – resilient and sustainable

09 October 2025

Aggregates are the most-used bulk material on the planet. However, the true scale and dynamics of the sector are seldom fully appreciated. Thanks to the Global Aggregates Information Network (GAIN™), much-improved industry production data is now available. According to this data set, the aggregates sector will likely resume its growth path towards 2030, despite a global decline in recent years. The data also points to a highly resilient industry, ever more responsibly and sustainably supplying a key product essential to societal well-being. By Jim O’Brien, GAIN, Ireland
