Pushing cooler performance beyond the original design

UltraTech Cement Ltd has strengthened the performance and reliability of its Aditya Cement Works Line 2 in Rajasthan, India, through a comprehensive brownfield upgrade of its KHD Pyrofloor cooler. Designed to support clinker production of up to 10,500tpd, the 31-day revamp combined new-generation grate plates, improved sealing and a rebuilt hydraulic drive system to address the demands of sustained operation above the cooler’s original design capacity. The results demonstrate how targeted modernisation can deliver significant gains in energy efficiency, heat recuperation, equipment reliability and operational availability without replacing the existing cooler.
