Cemtech Asia Technical Workshop 2019

The Progressive Levels of Optimisation

Cemtech will host a two-day training course on cement manufacturing technology at the Avani+ Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, on 17-18 June 2019.

This two-day technical training course explores the progressive levels of cement manufacturing process optimisation. The course begins with raw materials and their preparation, moves on to the fuels for firing a cement kiln and the ventilation of the exhaust gases from the process, and concludes with milling optimisation. An understanding of all these steps and how they interact is necessary in order to control and optimise the kiln process. The intention of this workshop is to provide and enhance this understanding of the individual processes and their interaction.

Optimisation is a fundamental requirement to maximise the productivity and efficiency of the cement manufacturing process. It is a way to minimise manufacturing costs, while maximising product quality and the profitability of a cement factory and company. This Cemtech technical training workshop will aim to explain how that can be achieved.

Monday, 17 June

Raw materials and their conversion into cement clinker, fuels and combustion

Topics covered will include:
•    the fundamental objectives of clinker and cement manufacture
•    best available technology
•    raw materials for cement manufacture
•    raw mix design
•    chemistry and thermodynamics in the cement kiln
•    alternative fuel strategies
•    best practice alternative fuels
•    combustion air and oxygen requirements
•    exhaust gas volume.

Tuesday, 18 June

Optimisation of milling processes

Topics covered will include:
•    drying in raw and coal mills
•    principles of the operation of vertical roller mills
•    cement grinding mills
•    principles and energy requirements for grinding
•    pre-grinding in roll presses
•    principles of the operation of ball mills
•    internal inspection and media charging.

The new, concise two-day format of the Cemtech technical training workshops will consist of a series of lectures provided by Dr Michael Clark, interspersed with exercises to illustrate and practice the concepts discussed in the lectures. Open discussion forums will be encouraged following each lecture and exercise. The exercises will be largely Microsoft Excel-based therefore participants should bring their laptop or arrange to complete the exercises jointly with another participant.

The workshop will be of interest to both the technical and managerial staff of cement companies. Guidance will be provided in the completion of the exercises, which will be within the compass of all delegates to Cemtech conferences.

During the breaks in the programme, delegates will be able to benefit from the exhibition of the concurrent Cemtech Asia event. Participants will also be welcome at the Gala Dinner held on the evening of Tuesday, 18 June.

Venue and accommodation

The course will take place at the Avani+ Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. A specially-discounted room rate will be available to those wishing to stay in this hotel. For other hotel recommendations at different budget levels, please contact the organisers at info@Cemtech.com.
