Nominee for Cement Plant of the Year 2019 – Aliénor Ciments (Cem’In’Eu), France

Cem’In’Eu’s new modular 30tph cement grinding station in Tonneins, France, was installed on an old, unused industrial site in an urban area, in close proximity to housing, within just eight months. The company developed a highly efficient rail and logistics system for the transport of raw materials and clinker to the plant, minimising CO2 per t/km. A bespoke container-based system is able to unload 42 containers, each carrying 1.35t of clinker, and reload in less than five hours. By opting for transport and logistics innovations that minimise both dust and noise, the plant sits in harmony with the local environment and community. The grinding plant itself utilises best available technologies throughout.
