South Africa’s Association of Cementitious Material producers (ACMP) aims to encourage, promote and support the country’s cement sector to embrace sustainable development goals. To this end, ACMP is actively engaged with the South African government to reform laws, including the improved uptake of alternative fuels, the carbon tax regime, air quality and waste management standards, and energy efficiency targets. It also collaborates with others, as shown by its recent joint project with Japan on mineral carbon capture and utilisation.

The ICR Cement Industry Awards 2019 will be honoured at the forthcoming Cemtech Europe conference, taking place at the InterContinental Berlin, Germany, on 1-2 October 2019.
