Lafarge Eastern India, one of Lafarge's Indian subsidiaries, is currently in the permitting phase of a planned 1.1Mta integrated cement works to be built at Nongklieh in the north-eastern Indian state of Meghalaya.

At the end of January, Lafarge announced that it is withdrawing some 30 expatriates, and their families, from Egypt because of the political uncertainties in the country. The company claims that this should have little effect on its operations in the country, as only a small part of the local management is concerned.
